TL;DR
Autonomous Vehicle Mapping Role (GIS/Robotics): Own map quality, validation, deployment, and update planning for autonomous vehicle fleets with an accent on HD mapping, onboard sensor analysis, and mapping workflow automation. Focus on leading map testing, resolving map issues, coordinating releases, and mentoring mapping specialists.

What you will do
- Own the quality of map information for autonomous vehicles and establish annotation standards and best practices for the mapping team.
- Define testing and validation strategies for new maps against requirements from the Mapping and Localization team.
- Lead mapping tests with the Testing team and analyze onboard sensor data to identify and resolve map issues.
- Manage map version deployment and update planning across the vehicle fleet, including rollouts, rollbacks, and release coordination.
- Mentor and guide Mapping Specialists and review their work.
- Collaborate with the Mapping and Localization team to improve mapping tools, workflows, and automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience with GIS applications, ideally in HD map creation or maintenance.
- Experience planning and running map validation or testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and handle ambiguity.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work across teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with ROS.
- Experience with real-world robotics or autonomous vehicle deployment.
- Experience leading or mentoring a team.
- Experience with scripting, such as Python, to automate mapping workflows.
- Experience with agentic development, including AI coding agents or LLM-based tools for automating and accelerating mapping workflows.
