Sourcing and Order Merchandiser (Apparel Supply Chain)

Location: Work from home in China with regular commuting to fabric markets, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities in Guangzhou or Dongguan, Guangdong; Humen is preferred. Working hours are 1:00 PM–10:00 PM China Standard Time, Monday to Friday.

Salary: Starting at $1,000 monthly base depending on experience, plus a $40 night shift allowance.

What you will do

• Own fabric, trims, and material sourcing across the Guangzhou and Dongguan markets, including regular market engagement and supplier visits.
• Build, vet, and manage a network of fabric and material suppliers across China and develop long-term sourcing programs.
• Collect and send fabric swatches, validate supplier capabilities, support product development, and provide on-ground sourcing support.
• Coordinate communication between internal teams, fabric suppliers, and garment manufacturers, resolving questions and production issues.
• Conduct in-process and pre-shipment quality inspections for samples and bulk production, verifying measurements, specifications, workmanship, and other requirements.
• Track purchase orders, pricing, timelines, production status, QC documentation, delays, and supply risks while supporting process improvements and additional operational projects.

Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of sourcing or buying experience in vendor management, supplier coordination, negotiations, quoting, procurement, or a related field.
• At least 1.5 years of fabric and trims sourcing experience, with familiarity with the Guangzhou Zhongda fabric market and/or Dongguan fabric markets.
• Strong understanding of fabric, trims, garment manufacturing, and supplier capabilities.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high-volume, multi-step processes accurately.
• Comfort using Google Sheets and MS Excel for tracking, reporting, and operational management.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and active orders simultaneously and maintain strong stakeholder and supplier relationships.
• Self-motivated, proactive, comfortable working independently, and able to provide responsive on-ground support to internal teams.
• Willingness and ability to regularly visit fabric markets, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities in China, with flexibility to occasionally adjust working hours based on business requirements.
