Product Manager (AI) (Space Hardware Production): Leading the execution of European spacecraft payload production from engineering release through manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, and delivery with an accent on production readiness, configuration control, supplier coordination, and hardware quality. Focus on resolving manufacturing and test issues, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and European suppliers, and introducing AI-first tools into product development workflows.

Location: On-site at Hydrosat’s European office in Athens, Attikí, Greece; international travel is required as needed for engineering coordination, supplier visits, production transfer, and integration activities.

Company

Hydrosat is a space and data analytics company building an Earth observation constellation and software platform based on thermal infrared imagery for government, defense, agribusiness, water management, national security, and critical infrastructure use cases.

What you will do

  • Lead technical execution of European payload production across manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, and delivery.
  • Transition released hardware designs into production, ensuring drawings, bills of materials, procedures, requirements, and acceptance criteria are complete and usable.
  • Plan production workflows, staffing, materials, capacity, milestones, readiness reviews, and build schedules with engineering and Technical Program Management.
  • Resolve manufacturing and test issues, including nonconformances, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, shortages, and supplier problems.
  • Maintain configuration control, hardware traceability, as-built records, production documentation, and acceptance-test evidence.
  • Coordinate European suppliers, manufacturing partners, spacecraft providers, customers, and international engineering teams while incorporating lessons learned into subsequent builds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant technical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or technical project leadership for spacecraft, optical instruments, or other complex, high-reliability hardware.
  • Technical leadership experience with multidisciplinary teams as a Project Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Systems Engineer, Technical Lead, or in a comparable role.
  • Experience transitioning hardware from engineering development into production and coordinating manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, and delivery.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, bills of materials, configuration control, hardware traceability, quality processes, and acceptance testing.
  • Hands-on experience supporting hardware builds and tests, including troubleshooting, nonconformance resolution, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently, organize competing production priorities, and resolve technical issues with manufacturing teams, engineers, and suppliers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in English and the ability to present technical issues clearly to engineering teams and leadership.
  • Ability to work on-site at Hydrosat’s European office and travel internationally as needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience manufacturing and delivering space-based optical payloads, including thermal infrared or multispectral imaging instruments.
  • Experience using first article and qualification results to establish production processes and acceptance testing for flight hardware.
  • Familiarity with European space hardware manufacturing and product assurance practices, including ECSS standards.
  • Experience with production process improvement, manufacturing readiness, and coordination across international engineering teams and European suppliers.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and MES/ERP systems used to manage production materials and builds.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work closely with UX design, software and data engineering, science, customer success, product marketing, manufacturing, suppliers, and international engineering teams.
  • Operate in an execution-focused role balancing long-term product strategy with rapid iteration based on customer feedback.
  • Introduce AI-first practices, hands-on prototyping, and workflow automation into the product development process.
  • Work across government programmes and commercial data and subscription products.
