Senior Solution Architect (Autonomous Operations)

Location: Hybrid, Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia; other listed locations include Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane. Employees are expected to work at a Rockwell location at least Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays unless they have a business obligation out of the office. Willingness to travel up to 50% is preferred.

What you will do

• Lead technical architecture for Autonomous Operations transformation opportunities and consulting engagements.
• Translate business priorities into future operating architectures, technical choices, and practical implementation roadmaps.
• Design architectures spanning field devices, control, industrial data, manufacturing operations, enterprise systems, edge, and cloud.
• Evaluate agentic AI, adaptive control, software-defined automation, orchestration, physical AI, and robotics, including trade-offs in latency, reliability, cybersecurity, human oversight, and integration.
• Lead architecture discussions with CTOs and senior operations, engineering, and IT stakeholders, translating complex choices into business outcomes.
• Validate feasibility, scope, dependencies, estimates, risks, requirements, testing, deployment, maintainability, and secure integration through delivery.
• Define boundaries for automated decisions, human intervention, closed-loop execution, validation, and assurance.
• Develop reusable blueprints and reference architectures, mentor architects and engineers, and connect client requirements with Rockwell technical and product communities.

Requirements

• Typically 6–10 years of relevant experience in industrial solution architecture, consulting, or systems integration, including leadership of complex client architecture engagements supporting consultative opportunity development.
• Deep expertise in at least one area is required: industrial operations; industrial data; OT, edge, cloud, enterprise integration, and cybersecurity architecture; autonomy including AI, optimization, orchestration, robotics, and closed-loop execution; or implementation architecture assurance, deployment, validation, and feasibility.
• Strategic architecture thinking, executive communication, and the ability to translate business problems into feasible technical choices.
• Experience coordinating specialists, leading technical teams, and mentoring colleagues.
• Experience with cloud and edge architectures, APIs, industrial integration patterns, and data modeling.
• Practical experience with Python, SQL, or integration services sufficient to assess implementation choices and guide engineering teams.
• Experience with time-series data, contextualization, and industrial data governance.
• Experience in mining, food and beverage, or another relevant industrial sector.
• Experience supporting both consultative opportunity development and implementation delivery.
• Experience designing industrial cybersecurity, access management, and reliable integration across OT and IT environments.
• Experience building reusable architectures, developing colleagues, and collaborating across technical disciplines.
• Experience in asset performance management, production optimization, or autonomous production logistics.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Experience developing transformation blueprints or technology roadmaps with business and industry consultants.
• Familiarity with FactoryTalk Data Mosaix, FactoryTalk Optix, Cognite Data Fusion, Plex MES, or OTTO autonomous mobile robots; expertise across every platform is not required.
• Relevant cloud, architecture, or industrial platform certifications.
• Applied experience in industrial AI, agentic systems, advanced process control, orchestration, robotics, or physical AI, including understanding of validation and deployment constraints.
