Azure Solutions Architect

Location: On-site at client premises in Canberra, Sydney, or Melbourne, Australia; active AGSVA NV1 security clearance required.

What you will do

• Conduct application discovery with business owners, product teams, and IT, documenting architecture, dependencies, integrations, data flows, and hosting.
• Assess cloud readiness and recommend Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework migration treatments, including rehost, replatform, refactor, rearchitect, rebuild, retain, retire, and replace.
• Contribute to solution designs, migration plans, target-state architectures, runbooks, cutover plans, and reusable delivery patterns.
• Support migrations into Azure landing zones using App Services, Azure SQL, Storage, Functions, Logic Apps, and related integration services.
• Support refactor, rebuild, rearchitect, testing, cutover, hypercare, and operational handover activities.
• Coordinate with client stakeholders, engineering, infrastructure, networking and security, project services, and migration factory teams across multiple engagements.

Requirements

• Active AGSVA NV1 security clearance is mandatory.
• At least 5 years of experience in application development, technical analysis, or solution design, ideally with .NET and SQL Server.
• Hands-on experience with Azure application services, including App Services, Azure SQL, Storage, Functions, or Logic Apps.
• Knowledge of Microsoft’s eight cloud migration strategies and the ability to analyse unfamiliar application architectures, dependencies, data, and integrations.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitLab, or GitHub, plus strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to engage client stakeholders and manage priorities across several concurrent engagements.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-204, AZ-104, or AZ-305.
• Exposure to Azure Migrate and infrastructure as code with Terraform or Bicep.
• Awareness of ASD ISM, Essential Eight, PSPF, or IRAP, or experience in Australian Government environments.
• Tertiary qualification in software engineering, computer science, or information technology.
