Senior Software Engineer, Growth (Fintech)

Location: Seattle; US-based employees work from the San Francisco office three days a week.

Base salary: $158K–$225K annually, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Build scalable backend systems, high-performance APIs, distributed services, event-driven architectures, and real-time data processing capabilities for growth automation.
• Develop AI-native capabilities that turn customer signals, product usage, lifecycle events, and business context into personalized experiences, next-best actions, and automated workflows.
• Design, implement, deploy, operate, and own complex backend services and platform components end to end.
• Build secure, observable, highly available services and continuously improve performance and operational excellence.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, Marketing, Sales, and engineering teams to solve ambiguous business problems and deliver pragmatic technical solutions.
• Improve engineering quality through system design, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience building and operating production backend systems, plus a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Kotlin, or a comparable backend language, with solid computer science fundamentals and experience with FastAPI, Spring Boot, or comparable frameworks.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and backend architecture, including API design, data modeling, event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, scalability, and reliability.
• Ability to independently design and deliver complex backend solutions, make sound technical tradeoffs, and own services from implementation through production operations.
• Strong ownership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, work across functions, and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal oversight.

Nice to have

• Experience with growth platforms, experimentation systems, customer segmentation engines, marketing automation, or data-intensive applications.
• Experience building AI-powered applications or agentic workflows, including LLM integration, tool orchestration, evaluation, and production observability.
• Experience with real-time data pipelines, streaming technologies, or large-scale event processing.
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP, containerization, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or equivalent production observability and reliability tooling.
• Experience designing integrations across product, analytics, CRM, marketing, or other enterprise systems.
• Experience in high-growth technology companies, fintech, payments, or regulated environments.
