Software Engineer (Applied AI)

Location: Onsite in San Francisco, California, United States

Salary: $260,000–$290,000 base annually plus meaningful equity and a $200,000–$400,000 bonus.

Builds expert-reasoning and data infrastructure used by frontier AI labs to improve their models, including training data, evaluation environments, agent trajectories, and reinforcement-learning infrastructure.

What you will do

• Architect and scale high-throughput data pipelines.
• Build data-capture workflows across web and desktop environments.
• Design backend and platform infrastructure in Python.
• Work with distributed systems, queues, caching, search infrastructure, and cloud environments.
• Own projects end-to-end from architecture through production deployment.
• Collaborate directly with the founding team on technical direction and rapid delivery.

Requirements

• Strong backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Strong Python experience, ideally with some full-stack capability.
• Experience building scalable production systems or high-throughput data infrastructure.
• Strong cloud and distributed-systems fundamentals.
• Demonstrated ownership of substantial systems shipped to production.
• High agency, comfort in a fast-moving low-process environment, and an exceptional academic and technical background.

Nice to have

• Experience in AI infrastructure, LLM evaluation, human-in-the-loop systems, or applied AI.
• Experience at highly selective startups, quantitative engineering environments, or similarly demanding technical teams.
