Total Rewards Manager

Base salary: $140,000–$190,000 annually

What you will do

• Own compensation benchmarking, salary bands, leveling alignment, offer guidance, promotion guidance, market adjustments, internal equity reviews, offer modeling, and compensation cost projections.
• Run compensation review cycles, including budget modeling, manager guidance, calibration support, and communicating outcomes.
• Own medical, dental, vision, 401(k), wellness, and other benefits programs, including renewals, vendor relationships, plan analysis, negotiations, budgeting, forecasting, and open enrollment.
• Manage pay transparency compliance across California and other hiring states, as well as benefits compliance under ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
• Administer and optimize Rippling, Carta, and Pave, keeping data connected and trustworthy.
• Build AI-powered compensation tools, including calculators, offer models, cycle workflows, and leadership dashboards, and document compensation and benefits guidance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Total Rewards experience with hands-on depth in both compensation and benefits.
• Experience running benefits renewals, sourcing and implementing vendors, and building and managing benefits budgets.
• Hands-on experience with market benchmarking, compensation analysis, and supporting or running compensation review cycles.
• Working knowledge of pay transparency laws, including California requirements.
• Fluency with Rippling, Carta, Pave, or comparable modern HR and compensation tools.
• Experience using AI tools to build compensation models, automations, or internal tools.
• Strong analytical and Excel/Sheets modeling skills, with the ability to turn data into clear recommendations.
• An exemplary record of handling highly confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
• Evidence of exceptional ability through rewards programs, models, tools, or solutions to problems without an established playbook.

Nice to have

• Experience administering equity and stock option programs, including grants, refreshes, vesting, and cap table coordination in Carta.
• Experience designing compensation and benefits for hourly or shift-based workforces, including shift differentials, overtime, and premium pay.
• Experience designing benefits and compensation for multiple states.
• Experience at a high-growth startup, especially as an early or first Total Rewards hire.
• Experience in nuclear, energy, aerospace/defense, advanced manufacturing, or other regulated industrial environments.
