Senior Software Engineer (Go)

Location: London, United Kingdom, or remote within the UK; London in-person or remote UK.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, operate, and take ownership of production services and products that support auctions, sales, inventory, valuation, client platforms, identity, compliance, and live events.
• Build and maintain distributed systems and microservices used by internal teams, clients, and specialists.
• Make pragmatic technical decisions, weigh trade-offs, and work across teams to deliver business-focused solutions.
• Communicate technical decisions through calls, written proposals, and reviews.
• Handle incidents, learn from failures, and maintain code that others can build on.
• Use modern tools and AI where appropriate while understanding systems deeply enough to identify when tools are unsuitable.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience shipping production systems, with ownership of services or products that other people depend on.
• Located in the United Kingdom; London in-person or remote within the UK.
• Strong experience with at least one of Go, React/TypeScript, or Scala.
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating distributed systems and microservices.
• Solid relational database knowledge, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, and containerisation.
• Ability to solve business problems pragmatically, make trade-offs, communicate clearly, and collaborate across teams.
• Readiness to work across varied responsibilities and learn the technologies required by the work.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms.
• API design experience with GraphQL, gRPC, or REST.
• Experience with authentication, authorisation, or compliance-related systems.
• E-commerce, marketplace, or auction domain experience.
• Additional experience beyond one of Go, React/TypeScript, or Scala.
