Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, United States. Primary location: Eagan, Minnesota, with other listed locations in Frisco, Texas; New York, New York; and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Eligible office locations may also include New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, McLean, and Washington, DC. Employees may work from anywhere for up to 8 weeks per year.

Base salary: $110,000–$204,200 USD annually for eligible US locations; $127,000–$235,000 USD in certain listed locations.

What you will do

• Design and build backend services with Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL for real-time AI interactions and large-scale data flows.
• Define service boundaries, system interfaces, and scalable architecture for an AI platform.
• Develop high-performance APIs and microservices for AI agents, orchestration engines, and content pipelines.
• Integrate systems with LLM providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic, including routing, orchestration, safeguards, and guardrails.
• Productionize AI capabilities through error handling, telemetry, observability, testing, and resiliency practices.
• Lead architecture reviews, mentor teammates, improve CI/CD and DevOps automation, and collaborate with ML engineers, product managers, and designers.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience building backend systems, APIs, and microservices.
• Strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS cloud services.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, software architecture, and data modeling.
• Experience with AI-driven systems or agent-based architectures.
• Proven ability to deliver reliable, production-ready systems, with strong debugging and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid US office-based role.

Nice to have

• Experience with embeddings, vector search, or RAG retrieval patterns.
• Experience with modern LLM APIs or orchestration frameworks.
• Strong focus on testing, automation, and operational robustness.
