Engineering Manager, Data

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and grow a high-performing data engineering team.
• Guide the development of enterprise-scale data solutions and define technical and strategic direction.
• Improve data architecture, development processes, reliability, quality, and engineering excellence.
• Break down large systems into reusable data assets and components that support scale and interoperability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, external partners, data scientists, and peer data leaders.

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent background.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, or a related domain.
• 2+ years of hands-on management experience, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and mentoring.
• Strong communication, leadership, system design, and execution skills.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin, SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Trino, or Pinot.
• Experience with AWS, Airflow, Kafka, Spark Streaming, data lake formats, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Glue Catalog, and S3; familiarity with AI solutions in data is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience building systems that directly power online applications.
• Exposure to CockroachDB, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL.
