Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Frisco, Texas, United States; hybrid work model with work from anywhere available for up to 8 weeks per year.

Base salary: $127,400–$236,600 USD per year, with potential eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Design and lead enterprise-scale AI systems, including multi-component pipelines, RAG architectures, and autonomous AI agents.
• Advance model adaptation and customization for legal, tax, fraud, compliance, and other specialized domains.
• Define organization-wide standards and best practices for AI system architecture.
• Partner with AI researchers, engineering leaders, product, and design teams to develop AI-powered applications.
• Lead proof-of-concept projects, technical feasibility assessments, and adoption of emerging AI techniques.
• Mentor engineers and represent technical perspectives in executive forums and industry events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in senior or lead AI/ML roles.
• Experience with Generative AI, RAG, LLMs, model evaluation, MLOps/LLMOps, and enterprise AI application lifecycles.
• Expert Python skills and experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Knowledge of machine learning principles, distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform; strong technical leadership and stakeholder communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with agent-based architectures, OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, and information retrieval.
• Expertise in legal, tax, accounting, regulated industries, AI governance, model risk management, or regulatory compliance.
• AI/ML publications, patents, speaking experience, or a portfolio of LLM-based products.
