Staff Engineer, Agentic AI

Location: San Francisco, United States; work from the San Francisco office three days a week

Salary: $182,000–$310,000 annual base pay, plus potential equity and other compensation.

What you will do

• Architect and deploy intelligent systems that automate complex, multi-step financial workflows.
• Apply prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, or model training based on product needs.
• Design and optimize agent architectures for reasoning, tool use, and workflow automation.
• Build AI systems that improve through usage and create compounding AI flywheels.
• Partner with backend and frontend engineers to integrate AI reasoning into secure production systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of applied AI/ML engineering experience, including production deployments.
• Strong Python skills and experience with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Experience building and deploying AI agents, orchestration frameworks, or multi-step reasoning systems.
• Experience designing monitoring, evaluation, and iteration practices for production AI systems.
• Ability to balance innovation with reliability, scalability, and compliance.
• Ability to work from the San Francisco office three days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience architecting intelligent systems for complex financial workflows.
• Experience with agentic frameworks, orchestration layers, and pragmatic model selection.
• Experience designing AI systems for reasoning, tool use, and workflow automation.
