Staff / Senior Staff Security Engineer (Fintech)

Location: London, United Kingdom. Hybrid work with two recommended office days per week; remote workation is available for up to 90 days per year in the EU, with limited global workation days.

Annual gross salary: £97,800–£169,100 GBP.

What you will do

• Own the hirify.global Pay security roadmap, prioritising attack paths and driving risks to closure.
• Translate PCI DSS, DORA, Bank of Lithuania, and FCA requirements into automated security controls and engineering guardrails.
• Review and improve AWS infrastructure, payment pipelines, SIEM and logging, and vulnerability management tooling.
• Design PCI DSS and data protection controls covering payment-page isolation, script monitoring, encryption, and least-privilege access.
• Lead cross-functional security initiatives across Payments Platform, Payments Engineering, and Group Security.
• Embed secure development practices into payment engineering and improve security decision-making across engineering teams.

Requirements

• Staff- or principal-level security engineering experience with large production and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with regulated payments or fintech, including PCI DSS and financial-regulator requirements.
• Experience threat-modelling payment flows, identifying attack paths, and building or driving remediation.
• Experience leading company-wide technical initiatives and influencing without direct authority.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Go, MySQL, Temporal, AWS, SIEM, and CSPM tooling, or the ability to learn the stack.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience operating systems at massive scale, including more than 2 million requests per minute.
• Knowledge of Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, AWS IAM and KMS, multi-account and multi-region architecture, Wiz, or SIEM engineering.
• Privacy engineering, offensive security, or OSCP certification experience.
