Senior or Staff Backend Engineer (Security)

Salary: $190,000–$270,000 per year, plus equity

hirify.global is an early-stage interface company building Stream, a private voice ring and conversational interface designed to extend human thinking.

What you will do

• Design and ship end-to-end encryption for user data, including key management and encrypted search and background processing.
• Build confidential-computing infrastructure with attestation and reproducible builds.
• Own identity, secrets, workload credentials, service access, environment isolation, and privileged-access auditing.
• Lead supply-chain and CI/CD security, audit logging, alerting, incident response, runbooks, and post-incident hardening.
• Drive vendor and data-handling security, including AI provider agreements, OAuth scope reviews, data retention, and deletion.
• Build backend product features in real-time Python services, review changes, lead SOC 2 engineering controls, and establish secure engineering practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and operating backend systems, including accountability for security on a production service.
• Strong Python skills and experience owning a live, real-time service end to end.
• Hands-on applied cryptography experience, including envelope encryption, authenticated encryption, and key hierarchies.
• Deep AWS and/or GCP cloud security experience with IAM, workload identity federation, KMS, secrets management, and audit logging.
• Experience leading production incident response and working with document stores and access-control models.
• Ability to communicate precisely with engineers, founders, auditors, and vendors and make practical security trade-offs.

Nice to have

• Experience with confidential computing or attestation, such as Nitro Enclaves, SEV-SNP, TDX, or App Attest.
• iOS security primitives, including Secure Enclave and Keychain.
• Bluetooth LE device security, firmware signing, or secure pairing.
• Retrieval systems, LLM infrastructure, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 engineering experience.
