Senior Data Engineer - Data Platform (Databricks)

Location: United States — fully remote, or hybrid in Omaha, Nebraska

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and maintain a Databricks lakehouse using dbt and medallion architecture standards.
• Build ELT pipelines with Databricks, dbt, and Fivetran from SQL Server, Salesforce, MongoDB, Gong, OpenTelemetry, and vendor systems.
• Lead the migration away from BigQuery, Data Fusion, and Cloud Fusion, including pipeline refactoring and Tableau migration.
• Improve platform reliability through replication, ingestion, auto-recovery, full-refresh jobs, watchdog orchestration, freshness monitoring, and data quality checks.
• Design access controls, governance policies, data contracts, documentation, and privacy workflows supporting CCPA requirements.
• Partner with data science, machine learning, AI, engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders while mentoring engineers and contributing to architecture decisions.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States for the remote option, or work hybrid from Omaha, Nebraska.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or data analytics.
• Production experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, dbt models, tests and macros, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Python, APIs, and large datasets.
• Experience leading data platform migrations and building analytics- and machine-learning-ready datasets.
• Experience with data testing, freshness monitoring, alerting, access controls, governance, mentoring, and technical communication.

Nice to have

• Experience at a B2B SaaS company.
• Experience with BigQuery or Fivetran.
