Senior Database Reliability Engineer (MariaDB/MySQL)

Location: Hybrid role based in Montréal or the surrounding area, with onsite work at the Montréal office. Valid authorization to work in Canada is required.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve highly available MariaDB/MySQL database platforms across multiple environments.
• Operate and optimize database clusters, including replication, failover, backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance with Infrastructure as Code and configuration-management tools.
• Own Linux systems running database workloads across bare-metal and hybrid environments, including troubleshooting and system-level tuning.
• Integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines and implement monitoring, alerting, and observability with Prometheus and Grafana.
• Apply security and reliability practices while collaborating with platform, DevOps, and application teams on incidents, tooling, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing production database platforms, preferably MariaDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of uptime, performance, data integrity, replication, backups, failover, and recovery.
• Experience operating Linux systems in on-premise or hybrid environments and troubleshooting storage, networking, and system resources.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and database integration into CI/CD pipelines.
• Production experience with Prometheus and Grafana for database health, performance, and capacity monitoring.
• Strong written and spoken English, Canadian work authorization, and residence in Montréal or the surrounding area are required.

• Experience with GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of French.
