Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Crossman Excellence Building, Sunnyvale, California, United States

Salary: $117,000–$234,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Own the delivery, iteration, testing, and support of scoped software features and AI/ML models.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable software across the full development lifecycle.
• Build and improve the app-based interface for Walmart’s intelligent orchestration platform.
• Integrate AI/ML components and use generative AI coding assistants to improve software development velocity.
• Participate in solution design, code reviews, CI/CD, performance monitoring, and defect management.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Extensive full-stack software development experience with React, Java, JavaScript, Python, and related frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, solution architecture, and scalable distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Gemini CLI.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation scripting, and automated testing.
• Ability to analyze business requirements and develop functional and non-functional technical solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of software engineering experience, or 5 years of software engineering experience.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 2 years of software engineering experience.
