Senior Director, Head of WD Capital

Location: Hybrid role based in San Jose, California, United States, at the San Jose Great Oaks Headquarters. Moderate travel of approximately 20–30% is required.

Salary: $242,900–$323,800 per year.

What you will do

• Own WD Capital's existing investment portfolio, including performance monitoring, portfolio support, board or observer seats, follow-on investments, exits, and liquidity outcomes.
• Build a thesis-driven pipeline of early-stage companies aligned with hirify.global's strategic and technology priorities.
• Lead the full investment lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, due diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation, and closing.
• Develop investment theses with business leaders, the CTO's office, and Corporate Strategy.
• Present investment recommendations, portfolio reviews, and market insights to the Investment Committee and executive leadership.
• Define WD Capital's strategy, governance framework, operating processes, and ecosystem relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 12+ years of relevant venture capital or corporate venture capital experience, including experience leading or building a CVC program or fund.
• Prior experience in an institutional venture capital fund and a track record of sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and closing early-stage technology investments.
• Experience managing venture investment portfolios, including board or observer responsibilities and follow-on or exit decisions.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, deal structuring, executive communication, and investment judgment skills.
• Deep familiarity with storage, semiconductors, data infrastructure, AI/ML infrastructure, or adjacent deep-tech sectors.

Nice to have

• MBA or MS/PhD in a technical field.
• Board director or board observer experience with venture-backed companies.
• Experience building or scaling a CVC function within a large technology or industrial company.
• Familiarity with storage, flash/NAND, data infrastructure, and related ecosystems.
