Engineer II-IS (Equipment Automation)

Location: Gresham, Oregon, United States; onsite work in a semiconductor fabrication facility and clean room environment

What you will do

• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot host communications for semiconductor equipment.
• Investigate equipment communication issues end to end and implement robust solutions beyond standard resets.
• Develop and maintain Python scripts for equipment monitoring, data collection, and automation.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and LLM-based code assistants for coding and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with network engineers and technical and non-technical users to apply network best practices.
• Log requests, issues, and projects, and support onboarding and training for new employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 2.5–5 years of experience troubleshooting equipment automation issues.
• Comfort with C, C++, C#, Python, Windows, and Linux.
• Basic knowledge of RS232 and Ethernet communications hardware and SQL queries.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, LLM-based code assistants, and version control systems; basic understanding of supervised learning, classification, and regression.
• Ability to work in a clean room wearing full bunny-suit attire and perform lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, crawling, and other physical activities; this is a safety-sensitive position.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor fabrication equipment and SECS/GEM, SEMI Standards, or VFEI protocols.
• Knowledge of equipment management, fault detection classification and control, and cell controller software.
• Experience with corporate networks, relational databases or Oracle, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation.
