University of British Columbia-affiliated PROGENITER is a multidisciplinary research program developing antibody leads and protein therapeutics for infectious diseases and pandemic preparedness.

What you will do

• Perform molecular cloning, plasmid propagation, and plasmid purification.
• Express recombinant proteins in bacterial, insect, and mammalian cell culture systems.
• Purify proteins and protein complexes using FPLC affinity chromatography, SEC, IEX, and HIC.
• Perform protein quality-control, binding, and functional assays using Western blot, SDS-PAGE, capillary electrophoresis, DLS, DSF, SEC-MALS, BLI, SPR, and plate readers.
• Operate and maintain FPLC systems, centrifuges, plate imagers, and other biochemical and biophysical instruments.
• Maintain laboratory records, communicate results, restock consumables, and support SOP development for purification and QC workflows.

Requirements

• Relevant technical program or university degree, plus at least three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with PCR, cloning, bacterial transformation, plasmid purification, and aseptic cell-culture techniques.
• Experience with recombinant protein expression, purification, and characterization.
• Ability to maintain detailed records, analyze data, use scientific software, and communicate experimental results clearly.
• Ability to work independently after training while collaborating in a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Commitment to laboratory safety, risk assessment, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Nice to have

• Degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related discipline with 3–5 years of research experience.
• Experience with KingFisher Apex, LabChip, nanoDSF, DLS, SEC-MALS, and plate-based luminescent or fluorescent assays.
• Aptitude for learning new technologies, instrumentation, and software.
