Associate Staff Research Scientist (Mass Spectrometry)

Location: On-site in Concord, Ontario, Canada

Annual salary: 130,000–150,000 CAD, plus bonus/incentive pay

What you will do

• Identify customer needs and barriers and translate them into innovative mass spectrometry research opportunities.
• Develop, evaluate, and improve novel mass spectrometry applications and mature research innovations into commercial technologies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product development, product applications, software development, manufacturing, and research teams.
• Provide expert technical input on internal and external business opportunities from an applications perspective.
• Represent the company at international conferences and customer meetings and support marketing activities as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum M.Sc. in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred.
• More than 10 years of mass spectrometry experience.
• Proven research and innovation record applying mass spectrometry to problems in life science research, pharmaceuticals, food, forensics, or similar application areas.
• Proven publication record in mass spectrometry.
• Experience collaborating with thought leaders in industry and/or academia.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with deep analytical, problem-solving, and innovation capabilities.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing AI or machine learning to solve scientific problems or control instrumentation.
• Proven innovation and patent-generation record.
