Staff Scientist COE, Proteomics

Location: Concord, Ontario, Canada; domestic and international travel to customer sites, demonstration laboratories, scientific meetings and internal events may be required.

Salary: CAD 150,000–CAD 190,000 annually, plus eligibility for bonus/incentive pay.

What you will do

• Execute advanced omics customer-sample demonstrations on SCIEX mass spectrometry platforms, tailoring workflows to customer needs and success criteria.
• Develop, validate and maintain analytical methods, standard operating procedures, benchmark studies and reference data.
• Establish demonstration-readiness standards covering workflow protocols, instrument and software configuration, data quality, troubleshooting paths and acceptance criteria.
• Provide scientific leadership, technical coaching and complex workflow troubleshooting to global field application scientists and regional demonstration laboratories.
• Design and execute external customer evaluations and scientific collaborations, translating findings into demonstration capabilities, application insights and product requirements.
• Partner with Commercial, Product Management, Market Vertical, R&D, Technical Marketing and Quality/Regulatory teams to support strategic opportunities and improve demonstration cycle time and competitive win rates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, life sciences or a related scientific discipline with 20+ years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree with 10+ years; or a PhD with 7+ years of proteomics experience.
• Hands-on experience with liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry workflows, complex sample preparation, analytical method development, optimization and troubleshooting across diverse cell systems, tissues, biofluids and other biological samples.
• Experience planning and delivering customer-facing scientific demonstrations or technical presentations using experimental data to address defined customer requirements.
• Experience authoring and maintaining controlled technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, protocols, benchmark methods, validation summaries or reference datasets.
• Experience working with geographically distributed commercial, applications, product-development and quality/regulatory stakeholders to translate scientific findings into technical recommendations or product requirements.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.

Nice to have

• Metabolomics or multi-omics experience.
• Experience with external customer evaluation programs, lighthouse studies or collaborations with recognized scientific thought leaders.
• Experience in regulated laboratory environments or collaboration with Quality and Regulatory Affairs on workflow readiness and documentation.
• Experience with competitive benchmarking of mass spectrometry workflows and developing application evidence for complex commercial opportunities.
