Senior DevOps/SRE Engineer

Location: Fully remote within the United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; certain roles may require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation or security clearance.

United States Wage Range: $120,000–$156,000 annually

What you will do

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS.
• Own observability and monitoring with tools such as Datadog and Dynatrace.
• Improve incident management, runbooks, automated remediation, and mean time to recovery.
• Provision and manage infrastructure as code with Terraform and develop operational automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Collaborate with development teams across VA programs to resolve engineering issues and improve platform stability.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to DevOps standards and best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or Dynatrace.
• Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices, plus scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• U.S. work authorization is required; U.S. citizenship and federal background investigation or security clearance eligibility may be required for certain roles.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the VA Platform, GitHub Enterprise practices, or VA.gov standards.
• Experience working in Agile, remote, and collaborative engineering environments.
