Network Operations Specialist (Network Engineer II) (Government)

Location: Onsite in Chantilly or Springfield, Virginia, United States; five days per week at a designated government customer site. No relocation is offered.

Salary: $89,200–$194,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, configure, and administer client LAN/WAN devices and network configurations.
• Respond to escalated incident tickets and troubleshoot Layer 1, 2, and 3 network issues.
• Support Tier III network engineers with incident management, site surveys, equipment installation, and network projects.
• Coordinate network maintenance, repairs, upgrades, configuration management, asset records, inventories, and topology documentation.
• Analyze customer-impacting events using network tools and diagnose hardware and software problems.
• Evaluate network technologies, recommend integrations, maintain configuration baselines, and coordinate with vendors and service providers.

Requirements

• 10 years of experience through a combination of work history and education.
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
• Compliance with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
• Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade, and Foundry OS.
• Experience with Layer 3 protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, VRF, and GRE.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, HP/MicroFocus network tools, and Riverbed tools such as NetProfiler and AppResponse.
