Data Scientist, Strategic Performance

Location: College Station, Texas; position eligible for remote work.

What you will do

• Establish systems for measuring key performance indicators across Strategic Plan pillars.
• Develop performance measures, reporting calendars, data submission schedules, and review cycles.
• Create Strategic Plan scorecards, progress reports, dashboards, and measurement documentation.
• Conduct benchmarking and comparative analyses aligned with strategic priorities.
• Prepare analyses and reports for executive leadership and the Board of Regents.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, economics, higher education administration, public policy, computer science, information systems, mathematics, operations research, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in strategic planning, performance measurement, institutional research, business intelligence, data analytics, program evaluation, or a related field.
• Experience developing KPIs, reporting frameworks, benchmarking analyses, and executive-level communications.
• Proficiency with analytical, statistical, and data visualization tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable technologies.
• Strong data storytelling, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residence is required. The role is security-sensitive and requires a criminal history investigation and credential verification.

Nice to have

• Master’s or doctorate in a quantitative or related field.
• Ten years of relevant experience.
• Advanced analytics experience supporting executive leaders, governing boards, policymakers, or other senior decision-makers.
