Distribution Engineering Process Improvement Engineer 2 (Power Systems)

Location: Remote, with employees required to work and reside in California; occasional attendance at the SCE facility in Pomona, California and up to 15% travel throughout the SCE service territory.

Salary: $101,900–$152,800 per year

What you will do

• Coordinate distribution engineering commodities, project priorities, task assignments, and work tracking.
• Lead process and tool improvements, capture lessons learned, and develop training materials.
• Inspect and evaluate electrical equipment and systems, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements.
• Assess system events and equipment failures, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, design plans, and documentation for projects of increasing complexity.
• Perform power-system modeling, electrical facility design, equipment selection, and one-line diagram development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a scientific, technical, or mathematical field.
• At least two years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
• Valid Class C driver’s license.
• Ability to work and reside in California and attend an SCE facility occasionally.
• Ability to complete the required NERC/CIP personnel risk assessment or background investigation and specified training.

Nice to have

• Electric utility engineering or power-system planning experience focused on distribution planning or operations.
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Master’s degree in business administration or a related engineering field.
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one.
