TL;DR
Reliability Test Engineer (Solar Energy): Developing and executing reliability tests for mechanical and electromechanical technologies used in utility-scale solar power plants with an accent on accelerated life, vibration, thermal cycling, corrosion, and field validation. Focus on analyzing test data, reproducing failures, leading root-cause investigations, and validating corrective actions across product development.

Location: Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil; full-time, onsite role with up to 10% travel for occasional field inspections and data collection.

Company

Clean-energy technology company developing integrated structural, electrical, and digital solutions for utility-scale solar power plants.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute long-term reliability test plans for mechanical and electromechanical components, including accelerated life, vibration, thermal cycling, and corrosion testing.
  • Set up instrumentation using strain gauges, data acquisition systems, torque sensors, environmental chambers, and dynamometers.
  • Analyze test data, automate testing and data reduction, and prepare standardized technical reports for internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Support laboratory, field, and pilot-scale verification and validation, including inspection and characterization of field-aged specimens.
  • Lead reliability risk analysis, DFMEA sessions, failure investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action verification.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, field services, suppliers, and third-party laboratories on testing and design improvements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in test engineering, reliability engineering, or product development, preferably with field-deployed products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Materials, or related Engineering field.
  • Hands-on experience with metallic structures, fatigue and dynamic testing, reliability methods, and physics-of-failure principles.
  • Knowledge of ALT, HALT, HASS, IEC, UL, ASTM, and ISO standards, as well as instrumentation with DAQ systems, strain gauges, and dynamometers.
  • Experience with failure analysis, root-cause analysis, FEA for stress and fatigue prediction, and environmental testing.
  • Advanced or fluent English is required for meetings and technical reports.

Nice to have

  • Programming and test-automation experience with Python, SQL, LabVIEW, or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of reliability theory, statistical fundamentals, metallography, microscopy, fractography, or CT characterization.
  • Experience with stamped steel, galvanized steel, alloys, solar energy, or renewable-energy markets.
  • Spanish proficiency and technical training through programs such as SENAI.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work with cross-functional global teams developing clean-energy infrastructure.
  • Collaborate across product engineering, controls, quality, manufacturing, field services, asset management, and suppliers.
  • Contribute to data-driven product development, advanced automation, and reliability improvements for solar power plants.
