Software Engineer II, User Targeting (Ruby/React)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work

Salary: CA$125,280–CA$210,600 annual base pay; expected OTE of CA$139,200–CA$234,000 including bonus or commission.

What you will do

• Design and implement features across Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend.
• Own medium-sized projects from requirements clarification and planning through production rollout.
• Write and tune MongoDB and ClickHouse queries for a high-scale segmentation system processing billions of users per day.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to deliver customer-focused features.
• Write automated tests, review code, and participate in the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications or backend services.
• Strong understanding of software design, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with SQL and at least one production database.
• Ability to turn ambiguous requirements into working, tested code with limited oversight.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with experience working effectively in a team.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq, and SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake, or other data lake solutions.
• Experience with high-scale, high-throughput systems.
• Passion for customer experience.
