Senior Counsel (Medical Malpractice)

Location: Los Angeles, California; primarily remote with remote, hybrid, or onsite options. Attorneys must be licensed in California and attend court appearances, depositions, trial preparation, and client meetings when required.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys may also receive an annual billable-hours bonus.

What you will do

• Manage sophisticated medical malpractice, healthcare, professional liability, and insurance defense matters.
• Develop case themes and execute litigation strategy through resolution or trial.
• Independently handle court appearances, depositions, briefs, discovery, motion practice, and trials.
• Work with medical experts and evaluate case exposure.
• Communicate with clients and carriers and cultivate client relationships.
• Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys.

Requirements

• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• Active license to practice law in California required.
• At least 8 years of litigation experience, including litigation support, depositions, and trial preparation.
• At least 3 years of medical malpractice experience or significant medical malpractice exposure.
• Ability to manage full case handling responsibilities, including all aspects of discovery and trial.
• Strong independent judgment, communication, time management, and Microsoft Office skills.
