Software Engineer (AI/Cybersecurity)

Location: Maryland, United States. Applicants must already hold a TS/SCI clearance with a current Full Scope Polygraph; clearance sponsorship or processing is not available.

Salary: $260,000–$285,000 per year, plus $65,000–$71,000 in immediately vested company 401(k) contributions.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain AI-enabled software and research tooling for CNE and vulnerability research workflows.
• Own complex features and subsystems from requirements refinement through implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
• Build agentic AI harnesses that connect language models, research tools, instrumented execution environments, and backend services.
• Develop sandbox-based dynamic analysis capabilities, including runtime observation, instrumentation, evidence collection, and vulnerability reproduction.
• Integrate debugging, fuzzing, crash analysis, APIs, data pipelines, and researcher-facing interfaces into reliable workflows.
• Lead design and code reviews, document technical decisions, mentor engineers, and communicate technical risks and tradeoffs.

Requirements

• Current TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph required before applying; clearance sponsorship is not available.
• At least 12 years of experience, plus a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or four additional years of experience in place of the degree.
• Strong Python experience and a record of designing, testing, and delivering complex, maintainable software features or subsystems.
• Expertise in AI-enabled CNE or vulnerability research, including critical evaluation of AI-generated findings.
• Experience with vulnerability research or software analysis, such as reverse engineering, debugging, dynamic analysis, fuzzing, or crash triage.
• Experience with LLM applications or agentic systems, backend services and REST APIs, Linux, relational databases, Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and code review.

Nice to have

• Hands-on dynamic vulnerability research in sandbox environments and experience building agents that interact with debuggers, fuzzers, emulators, or related tools.
• Experience with virtualization, emulation, snapshots, and automated provisioning of repeatable analysis environments.
• Knowledge of C/C++, assembly, binary analysis, memory corruption, or operating system internals.
• Experience with AI evaluation datasets, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, Elasticsearch, Qdrant, or ChromaDB.
• Experience building researcher-facing interfaces with TypeScript or React, or contributing to security tooling, open-source projects, or technical publications.
