Associate, Project Development (Renewable Energy)

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; hybrid role with office collaboration on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Travel to projects within the West Region is required more than 25% of the time.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 USD annual salary, plus eligibility for an annual cash bonus.

What you will do

• Develop and manage utility-scale renewable energy projects from proposal and siting through permitting, design, interconnection, financing, contracting, and construction handover.
• Evaluate project opportunities and acquisitions through due diligence, comparative analysis, and prioritization of siting, permitting, interconnection, and commercial factors.
• Coordinate land acquisition, stakeholder networks, site layouts, technology assessments, transmission studies, and interconnection requests.
• Support negotiation and diligence of PPAs, generator interconnection agreements, turbine supply agreements, EPC contracts, and other project agreements.
• Support project financing activities involving cash equity, tax equity, and project debt, while managing project budgets, schedules, stage-gate reviews, and investment materials.
• Work with origination, business development, engineering, finance, construction, and external partners to market development-stage projects and advance them toward commercial operation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, environmental science, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of applicable U.S. renewable energy industry experience with direct experience developing utility-scale solar and/or wind projects across the full lifecycle.
• Understanding of complex energy-project permitting pathways in the western United States.
• Experience with landowner engagement, negotiation and contracting, title resolution, subdivision, agricultural land and water restrictions, ALTA surveys, GIS, and related real estate work.
• Experience managing project schedules and budgets, with the ability to manage multiple projects and assess commercial and financial value drivers.
• No visa sponsorship or employment authorization sponsorship is available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Advanced study in business, finance, law, environmental science, or public policy.
• Knowledge of governmental mandates, environmental regulations, and market signals affecting renewable energy development.
• Battery storage experience.
• Experience with CAISO and/or WECC power and transmission markets.
