Systems Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Remote within the United States, with candidates required to be located in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, or Maryland. The role is associated with and reports to the Allentown, Pennsylvania office and requires travel of up to 30–50% across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and Maryland.

What you will do

• Engineer and implement real-time automation controls and industrial information solutions.
• Conceptualize solutions during project design and develop PLC/PAC, HMI, SCADA, networking, database, and vision-system applications.
• Program, debug, test, and commission solutions at client sites.
• Create engineering notes, proposals, design traceability documentation, and case studies.
• Identify improvement opportunities, develop methodologies, and solve complex automation problems.
• Learn new technologies and mentor colleagues in areas of expertise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering Technology field, completed or expected soon.
• Academic or professional experience with some or all of the listed automation technologies.
• Experience or interest in machine and process control, information solutions, database development, operational efficiency, and mechatronics.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a self-directed approach to learning.
• Valid driver’s license and full-time access to a personal vehicle.
• Must be located in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, or Maryland and willing to travel up to 30–50%.

Nice to have

• Experience in the food and beverage or life sciences industries.
• Experience with DeviceNet, ControlNet, DH+, Remote I/O, or Modbus.
• Experience with Python, PI System Historian, and databases.
