Sr Automation Engineer (Biotech)

hirify.global is a global biotechnology company developing and manufacturing human therapeutics. The Dun Laoghaire site operates an aseptic drug product facility covering formulation, vial and syringe filling, lyophilisation, inspection, and packaging.

What you will do

• Own critical automation systems in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment, including lifecycle maintenance, validation, configuration control, and documentation.
• Manage automation-related Change Controls, Deviations, CAPAs, software updates, and SOP or design-documentation changes.
• Provide on-the-floor and remote technical support during production, shutdowns, technology transfers, and engineering runs.
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and reliability improvements across multiple automation platforms.
• Support new product and technology introductions and collaborate with engineering teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
• Champion Industry 4.0 initiatives involving data integration, advanced analytics, and digital twin technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotech Engineering, or a related life science engineering discipline, plus 5+ years of experience in an operations or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with automation design, installation, validation, lifecycle management, testing, and programming.
• Knowledge of GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88 and S95, 21 CFR Part 11, and Annex 11.
• Working knowledge of network architecture technologies, including TCP/IP and firewalls.
• Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, stakeholder-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid manufacturing environment in Ireland and travel occasionally for training and vendor visits.

Nice to have

• Experience in biopharmaceutical formulation, vial or syringe filling, inspection, or packaging facilities.
• Experience with Siemens and Rockwell PLC/HMI systems.
• Experience with iFix, InTouch, Zenon, process control systems, or Rockwell FTView SCADA.
• Experience with fieldbus systems such as ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, ProfiNet, AS-I, or BACnet.
