Senior Data Scientist (Advanced Electronics)

Location: Wilmington, Delaware, United States; onsite at hirify.global’s corporate headquarters

What you will do

• Apply statistics and data science to new product development, manufacturing improvement, sales growth, forecasting, and supply chain optimization.
• Develop text analytics for competitive analysis and support product testing in field applications.
• Clean and prepare data, build statistical and machine learning models, and create descriptive plots and reports.
• Identify business and engineering problems, estimate their potential value, and plan analyses as logical, independent workstreams.
• Collaborate with data engineering and software development teams to query data and deploy models.
• Communicate methods and results clearly to internal clients and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science, or a master’s degree with more than five years of industrial experience.
• At least five years of experience applying statistics and data science to business, engineering, or scientific problems.
• Strong coding skills in R or Python, including data preparation, regression, and plotting.
• Formal statistics education covering regression and hypothesis testing.
• Expertise in random forest, XGBoost, lasso, cross-validation, and hyperparameter tuning.
• Basic SQL query skills, independent problem-solving ability, strong communication skills, and confidence presenting analytical results.
