Senior Specialist, Systems Engineering (Network Engineering)

Location: Rochester, New York, United States; customer, field, lab, and operational environments. Requires domestic and international travel of up to approximately 30%.

Salary: $92,500–$171,500 per year.

What you will do

• Support new product delivery, operational readiness, and field success as a customer-facing systems engineer.
• Provide technical support for tactical communication systems in laboratory, field, and customer environments.
• Integrate hardware and software systems, execute advanced feature testing, and document results.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and system issues, including network diagnostics and traffic-flow verification.
• Manage customer technical issues and escalations while coordinating with engineering, product, program management, and sales stakeholders.
• Create technical documentation, lessons learned, training content, and field feedback to improve product capabilities and usability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical discipline with at least 6 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree with 4 years of experience or 10 years of experience without a degree.
• Experience with system integration, technical troubleshooting, issue resolution, and feature validation in hardware/software systems.
• Networking knowledge covering IP addressing, routing, subnetting, diagnostic tools, VLANs, redundancy protocols, routing protocols, and tunneling.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced operational environments and communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
• Ability to work in Rochester, New York, and travel domestically and internationally up to approximately 30%.

Nice to have

• Experience with tactical waveforms such as ANW2C, WREN-TSM, Wraith, and HF.
• Experience with mission command integration and fielded communication planning applications.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting IP-based network architectures using tactical radio solutions.
• Military experience or experience working in a military environment.
• Cisco CCNA certification or higher, and knowledge of tactical radio and wireless communication systems.
