Senior Medical Editor (Life Sciences)

Location: Yardley, Pennsylvania, United States (Hybrid)

What you will do

• Perform substantive copyediting and proofreading of scientific, medical, and learning deliverables, including e-learning storyboards, workshop materials, assessments, job aids, and sales support materials.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, compliance, and adherence to AMA style and client-specific style guides.
• Review references and citations, fact-check content, and assess supporting source materials.
• Evaluate learning objectives, assessments, visuals, and interactive elements for accuracy and alignment with educational goals.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of digital and print deliverables for functionality, content integrity, and project compliance.
• Collaborate with medical writers, instructional designers, project managers, artists, developers, client services teams, and clients while supporting editorial process improvements and team training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, life sciences, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience as a medical editor, senior editor, or editorial quality assurance professional in an agency or pharmaceutical communications environment.
• Experience editing scientific, medical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device content.
• Expert knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, clinical statistics, and the presentation of medical and scientific research results.
• Strong working knowledge of the AMA Manual of Style, references, fact-checking, and client-specific editorial guidelines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and other editorial tools, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting digital learning, training, scientific communications, or medical education deliverables.
• Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, literature review tools, and highly regulated healthcare environments.
• Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
