Supervisor, Generation Construction – Mechanical

Location: Onsite at Big Bend Power Plant in Apollo Beach, Florida. Travel may be required to Bayside and Polk Power Stations and commercial building sites throughout Hillsborough and Polk counties.

What you will do

• Oversee contractors and subcontractors performing construction, renovation, facility repair, and infrastructure improvement work.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, controls, civil/structural, and commercial building activities at an operating power generation station.
• Monitor safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, commissioning, cost, schedule, and contractor performance.
• Review designs, identify potential changes, support contract change notices, and prepare scopes and construction work packages.
• Coordinate construction planning, scheduling, outage activities, bidding, work-package awards, and project execution.
• Track construction activities and progress using computerized work management systems.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience in heavy facility construction, commercial construction, or construction management.
• Approximately 10 years of related experience with electrical systems and controls in a commercial environment.
• Experience supervising contractors and subcontractors, preparing scopes of work, developing budget estimates, and supporting contract administration.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, ASME standards, ASTM standards, and OSHA construction and general industry requirements.
• Experience with construction planning, scheduling, outage coordination, and computerized work management systems.
• Ability to work onsite, including overtime, nights, and weekends during planned or forced outages.

Nice to have

• College degree, Associate of Applied Science degree, or relevant technical or military trade-school education.
• Experience as a general contractor or mechanical contractor.
• General Workforce Contractor license or Journeyman Electrician qualification.
• Experience in power generation stations, industrial facilities, utilities, or other complex operating environments.
