Consulting Engineer (BOP/Facilities Engineering)

Location: Houston, Texas; onsite five days a week

Salary: $147,760–$221,640 per year

What you will do

• Lead balance-of-plant and facilities engineering across proposal, front-end development, and project execution phases.
• Define mechanical design bases, operating strategies, and facility-level engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, one-lines, and 3D models.
• Identify and mitigate technical, operational, constructability, commercial, and execution risks.
• Lead RFQs, technical requisitions, vendor evaluations, bid clarifications, and reviews of supplier documentation.
• Coordinate technical alignment across process, electrical, controls, structural, procurement, fabrication, construction, customers, and suppliers.
• Mentor engineers and improve standards, tools, modularization, standardization, and proposal quality.

Requirements

• 15–20+ years of experience in mechanical facilities or balance-of-plant engineering within upstream oil and gas, midstream, or energy infrastructure.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Expertise in ASME, API, ANSI, pressure equipment, piping systems, and facility design codes.
• Experience as a technical lead or subject matter expert for complex facilities or balance-of-plant systems, especially gas compression and power generation.
• Experience with equipment specifications, RFQs, vendor evaluation, technical bid alignment, and multidisciplinary proposal development.
• Must work onsite in Houston five days per week; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience reviewing pipe stress analysis with CAESAR II.
• Familiarity with Aspen HYSYS, ProMax, or similar process simulation and hydraulic tools.
• Spanish language skills.
