Senior Electrical Engineer (Power)

Location: Hybrid role based in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA; the role may sit out of any hirify.global office location. Travel is approximately 10%.

What you will do

• Lead multiple power generation and distribution projects from concept through issued-for-construction design.
• Develop electrical design packages covering protective devices, relays, instruments, transformers, breakers, alternators, grounding, and power/control wiring.
• Create one-line and three-line diagrams, breaker control diagrams, power plans, and systems plans.
• Model and analyze electrical systems using ETAP or SKM, including coordination, arc flash, grounding, and Neher-McGrath calculations.
• Coordinate with vendor packagers, architects, owners, contractors, and internal project teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Support business development by identifying markets and clients, securing new work, and helping set priorities for the Power Generation team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7–15 years of experience with complex electrical systems in industrial and power generation environments.
• Experience with Revit and electrical design for power generation and distribution.
• Strong knowledge of IEEE, UL, NEMA, and NFPA standards for renewables, harmonics, generation, energy storage, hazardous areas, and industrial systems.
• Ability to review vendor shop drawings for GIS switchgear, substation transformers, DCU/PLC enclosures, microgrid controllers, and complete generation systems.
• Strong communication, planning, organization, and time management skills; willingness to travel.

Nice to have

• Registered Professional Engineer license.
• Experience coordinating highly technical vendor-packaged systems.
