Design Engineer I (Outdoor Power Equipment)

The role supports New Product Development Engineering for outdoor power equipment at hirify.global.

What you will do

• Support component, sub-assembly, and system design from concept and CAD development through validation and production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and technical specifications.
• Analyze design trade-offs involving performance, cost, weight, manufacturability, reliability, safety, and durability.
• Support prototype builds, design verification plans, stress analysis, durability, environmental, abuse, and product testing.
• Resolve design issues, field failures, and manufacturing concerns using structured problem-solving methods.
• Collaborate with product management, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, quality, suppliers, and global cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 0–2 years of design experience in consumer, industrial, or electromechanical products; internships and co-ops are considered.
• Experience with 3D CAD such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or an equivalent tool.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven product development environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Experience in product development or manufacturing through an internship or co-op.
• Familiarity with injection molding, sheet metal, die casting, machining, or other manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with prototype assembly and product testing.
