AVP, Engineering (Fintech)

Location: Remote in the United States; other location: Fort Lee, NJ

Salary: $170,000–$210,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a lending engineering team, including recruiting, hiring, and career development.
• Partner with Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize and deliver high-impact features.
• Define technical strategy and make architecture decisions focused on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Own delivery from design through deployment and promote testing, CI/CD, and code review practices.
• Drive operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, post-mortems, and data-driven improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience and at least 3+ years in engineering management or technical leadership.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Python or C#, with experience in SQL or NoSQL databases and caching.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and event-driven systems.
• Experience building, leading, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience delivering complex distributed systems in production.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, Banking-as-a-Service, or other regulated industries.
• Experience with high-availability, high-throughput transaction processing systems.
