Software Developer (Python)

Location: Fully remote within the United States. Columbia, Maryland is listed as the department location. U.S. citizenship is required, along with eligibility to obtain and maintain federal suitability, a government-issued PIV credential, and required system access.

What you will do

• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications, automation, integrations, dashboards, and web interfaces.
• Use Python, JavaScript, Google Apps Script, SQL, APIs, and modern web frameworks to replace manual processes and disconnected spreadsheets.
• Work with government stakeholders and senior developers to clarify requirements, deliver working versions, and incorporate user feedback.
• Deliver software in short Agile sprints, including testing, user acceptance, production support, and updates to existing tools.
• Own assigned work through production, raise risks and blockers early, and document code for ongoing support and extension.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5 or more years of software development experience.
• Experience with front-end interfaces, back-end services, APIs, and databases.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, SQL, Google Workspace, and Google Apps Script.
• Experience with version control, testing practices, and troubleshooting production issues.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for federal suitability, a government-issued PIV credential, and required system access.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD and cloud deployment.
• Experience integrating AI or workflow automation into applications.
• Familiarity with federal requirements such as Section 508 accessibility.
