Senior Developer Advocate (AI and Machine Learning)

Location: San Francisco, California; must be based in the Bay Area and regularly participate in local community events, including evenings.

Salary: $149,200–$205,150 USD per year, excluding potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Represent Databricks in the Bay Area AI community through meetups, user groups, hack nights, conferences, and other events.
• Lead medium-to-large developer advocacy projects for AI and agent technologies from scoping through delivery.
• Create production-ready reference implementations, starter kits, demos, sample notebooks, datasets, tutorials, videos, blogs, and courseware.
• Show practitioners how to build, evaluate, govern, and operate agentic systems on the Databricks Data + AI Platform.
• Collect community feedback, advise product and engineering teams, and influence product roadmap discussions.
• Grow AI and ML communities while mentoring and unblocking less-experienced developer advocates.

Requirements

• 5+ years of combined experience in developer advocacy and a hands-on technical role such as software engineering, ML engineering, data science, or solutions architecture.
• Professional experience building and operating AI or ML systems at scale, including agent design, evaluation, and production operations.
• Strong Python skills and familiarity with current agent and machine learning tooling.
• Knowledge of the Databricks AI ecosystem, including Genie Agents, Genie, MLflow, and Databricks Unity AI Gateway.
• Based in the Bay Area and willing to participate in the local community regularly, including evenings.
• Public technical portfolio, recognized community participation, strong communication skills, and experience organizing user groups or facilitating meetups.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring developer advocates in content creation, demos, and public speaking.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to align community initiatives with product objectives.
