Sr. Machine Learning Engineer (NLP)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; required to work in the office 5 days a week

Annual base salary: $170,000–$240,000; target annual bonus: 10%

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain production-grade AI/ML models and services for insight generation on the PitchBook Platform.
• Develop solutions for NLP, summarization, semantic search, classification, prediction, and generative AI.
• Build and optimize models using classifiers, transformer models, LLMs, and other NLP techniques.
• Integrate models with scalable data and AI/ML infrastructure in collaboration with engineering, product, and data collection teams.
• Contribute to model architecture, monitoring, evaluation, transparency, compliance, security, and data integrity.
• Mentor engineers, participate in code and design reviews, evaluate candidates, and support technical documentation and onboarding.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering or machine learning engineering experience focused on AI/ML applications.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Hands-on experience with NLP, classifiers, transformer models, LLMs, and production machine learning systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience using machine learning and data science libraries.
• Experience with scalable data pipelines, distributed systems, cloud-native development, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangChain, LangSmith, and LangGraph in production environments.
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Airflow, Snowflake, Java, or Scala.
• Production GenAI or LLM system experience with measurable business impact.
• Fintech or financial data platform experience.
• Research papers published at peer-reviewed AI/ML conferences or participation in the AI research community.
