Senior Java/FIX Engineer - IG Prime (Fintech)

Location: City of London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with three days in the office.

What you will do

• Design and build REST, streaming and FIX trading and market-data APIs for institutional clients.
• Modernise FIX session handling, market-data distribution and order-flow systems.
• Solve real-time distributed-systems challenges involving resilience, failure recovery and correctness under load.
• Own services end to end across architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production operations.
• Use logs, metrics and traces to improve latency, throughput and reliability.
• Diagnose live issues with FIX Support, dealing desks and client-facing teams while contributing to engineering standards and AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• Substantial commercial experience building and operating backend systems in Java.
• Strong command of concurrency, multithreading and correctness under load.
• Practical experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems, including streaming, messaging or queueing.
• Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot, externally facing APIs, and cloud platforms, ideally AWS.
• Linux proficiency, including shell scripting, plus strong analytical debugging and observability skills.
• Clear communication with client-facing teams and business stakeholders.
