Senior Java Developer - Linux & Oracle (Manchester)

What you will do

• Produce structured, maintainable, reliable, and fit-for-purpose Java code.
• Refine business requirements and break them down into implementable work items.
• Support the technical lead and collaborate with Architecture and other stakeholders on technical matters.
• Provide technical leadership, help team members, and promote sound software engineering practices.
• Identify improvements to team and department working practices and contribute to wider development initiatives.
• Deliver work in line with changing business priorities, schedules, and specifications.

Requirements

• Proven experience or strong practical passion for software development.
• Degree-level education in computing, mathematics, science, or an equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge and practical application of agile methodologies.
• Experience delivering software to schedule and specification using Java, Oracle, and Linux.
• Client-focused, proactive, accountable, collaborative, and adaptable approach.

Nice to have

• Experience with SOLID principles and software design patterns.
• Experience with REST APIs and test-driven development.
• Knowledge of web application security.
• Knowledge of prompting AI to achieve desired outcomes.
