Counsel, Product Legal, Financial Partnerships (Fintech)

What you will do

• Lead complex negotiations with banking partners, payment schemes, and financial institutions.
• Structure and support partnerships for issuing, payments, embedded finance, yield products, and new market launches.
• Design and improve contracting processes, templates, playbooks, risk registers, and deal-tracking systems.
• Implement AI-assisted contract review, legal risk reviews, and PRD analysis within Product Legal.
• Advise Product, Financial Partnerships, Regulatory Legal, Risk, Commercial teams, executives, and deal owners on strategic decisions and risk trade-offs.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of post-qualification legal experience, including significant experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house within fintech, payments, banking, or related financial services.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and regulatory-sensitive agreements across multiple regions.
• Experience building scalable legal processes, playbooks, templates, controls, and escalation paths.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills with senior commercial, product, and risk leaders.
• Qualified to practice law in a common-law jurisdiction or equivalent, with strong academic credentials.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of payments, issuing, embedded finance, cross-border financial services, stablecoins, or digital-asset infrastructure.
• Legal experience at a high-growth technology company, payments company, or bank.
• Experience with AI-enabled legal tools such as Harvey or Claude.
• Experience supporting card programs, financial partnerships, or next-generation financial infrastructure.
