Sr. Director, Executive Search

Location: United States; roles based at the headquarters in San Mateo, California are onsite Tuesday through Thursday, with optional office presence Monday and Friday

Salary: $323,030–$364,920 USD base pay annually, plus eligible equity compensation and benefits

What you will do

• Design and scale a world-class executive search function, including internal executive research and succession planning.
• Lead end-to-end executive recruitment for mission-critical roles, from intake strategy through offer negotiation and closing.
• Build data-driven market maps and source executive talent across technology and engineering domains.
• Advise the CEO, C-suite, and senior leaders on executive hiring, talent planning, and competitive talent intelligence.
• Manage confidential candidate information and develop tailored strategies to engage passive executive candidates.
• Recruit, coach, and lead a high-performing team of executive recruiters while improving search processes and metrics.

Requirements

• 8+ years leading executive searches at Director level or above and 15+ years of total recruiting experience.
• Experience recruiting executive talent in technical or rapidly scaling environments such as software, hardware, AI/ML, or autonomous systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and present to C-level executives.
• Expertise negotiating complex executive compensation packages and closing candidates.
• Ability to provide competitive intelligence, benchmarking, and market signals for leadership decisions.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
