Staff Engineer, Engineering (Test Equipment)

Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia; onsite at the PN2 manufacturing location.

What you will do

• Sustain, troubleshoot, optimize, and continuously improve testing equipment for sputtered disks in high-volume hard disk media manufacturing.
• Maintain stable test performance, equipment capability, measurement accuracy, repeatability, quality, utilization, and PPH.
• Plan and expand test capacity while monitoring critical equipment parameters and production performance.
• Transfer and implement test projects, hardware and software enhancements, equipment upgrades, and new measurement methods into production.
• Investigate quality incidents, support root cause analysis and corrective actions, and ensure compliance with ISO standards and documentation practices.
• Analyze KPIV and KPOV data, train team members, and collaborate with Operations, Process, Quality, and R&D teams on technology introductions and data-driven improvements.

Requirements

• Advanced, higher, or graduate qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
• 4–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving process work, data monitoring, data crunching, and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, analytical problem-solving, solution development, and implementation.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, working knowledge of Minitab, basic Visual Basic programming, and statistical concepts.
• Basic project management skills, including planning, execution, and reporting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
